Meet Katlyn Agosta, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CDCES
Nurse Practitioner, Diabetes Care & Education Specialist
Hi, I’m Katlyn, a Nurse Practitioner, diabetes management specialist, and proud Valrico local.
I grew up in a military family—both of my parents served in the Army, and that experience taught me how to connect quickly with people from all walks of life. I originally planned to join the Air Force and was active in ROTC when, between ninth and tenth grade, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. That diagnosis changed everything. While it ended my plan to serve in the military, it became the reason I pursued nursing and furthered my studies to become a Nurse Practitioner.
After earning my nursing degree, I spent several years working in hospital care and eventually became a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. During my time as an inpatient diabetes educator, I saw how many hospitalizations could have been prevented with better outpatient care and follow-up. That realization inspired me to take a more proactive role in helping people manage their health before it reached a crisis point.
Papaya Primary Care was founded with that mission in mind—to make healthcare more personal, accessible, and prevention-focused for adults across Valrico, Brandon, and Lithia. As both a Nurse Practitioner and a person living with diabetes, I understand what it’s like to be on the other side of the exam table. My goal is to meet every patient with empathy, education, and practical support, so they leave feeling heard and equipped.
Outside the office, you’ll find me at home in Valrico with my husband, our two children, our dog, and a lively flock of backyard chickens. I love reading fiction, gardening (though my plants might debate that), painting, and spending time at the YMCA. If you see me there, come say hello—I love connecting beyond the clinic too.
